Radiant life church5/29/2023 ![]() ![]() He is proceeded in death by his father, Murphy Ray Sr., and his mother, Martha Emerson Ray. Murphy worked for years as a Service Technician with electrical and HVAC systems he traveled throughout Tennessee and across state lines daily servicing hospitals, restaurants and other industries. He attended Indian River Junior College to obtain an Associates Degree in Anthropology and moved on to Clearwater Christian College for coursework in theology. Gardening, birdwatching, listening to music, and connecting with furkids rejuvenated both his spirit and his connection to God and nature. He created art through various techniques-drawing, painting and woodworking. Always driven to learn and apply knowledge in the most remarkable manner, he mastered carpentry very early on in his life and utilized self-taught, complex structural and electrical engineering skills. He had a quiet strength and unmatched wisdom that made you feel swaddled in safety. He had such compassion and empathy for others and always put them before himself in the most authentic way. I look forward to many years of living on mission together.” Good Shepherd’s Council President remarks To think that I get to now partner with this beautiful flock on 1310 Shepherd Drive is a dream made reality. “Over the years, I have referred to Good Shepherd Church as my ‘first love.’ It is a church with a rich history of passionate worship and missional work both globally and locally. “When I first stood on the platform to preach my first sermon nearly 15 years ago, I never imagined that the then 25-year-old would one day lead this church,” said Pastor Tara Beth Leach. Outside of her local church duties, she speaks widely at conferences, retreats, and universities across America on church leadership and women in ministry. She is the author of Kingdom Culture, Emboldened, Radiant Church, and Forty Days on Being a Six. She is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University (BA) and Northern Theological Seminary (M.Div.).
